The goal of the Orff Music for Children program is to develop each child's musical literacy, understanding and creative potential.

The basic elements of music – rhythm, melody, dynamics, phrasing and form – are experienced by each child through activities involving singing, movement, speech, listening and instrument playing.

The activities are designed to foster creativity and also to prepare children for future musical studies by introducing the reading and writing of musical symbols. A sense of community is established as the children each contribute to the group according to their individual abilities. This develops self-esteem and self-discipline.

"Emphasis is placed on developing beat competency, in-tune singing and a sense of pitch."
